Liquidity Panel holds preliminary discussions

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) Finance Secretary Arun Ramanathan today said the liquidity panel to assess the financing needs of the various sectors held preliminary discussions on ways to improve the cash situation in the banking system and will submit its report in a weeks time.
"We have shared thoughts on what are the requirements. We need to address the liquidity demand," Mr Ramanathan said.
The Panel set up sometimes back by Finance Minister P Chidambaram is headed by Mr Ramnatahan, who is also the Secretary Financial Services.
Today was the first time the panel had met since its constitution.
The Panel has been mandated to go to Mumbai to make an assessments of the fund requirements. Mr Chidambaram said this morning that the members of the panel had conferred with each other over the weekend.
